. . .touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm." Rev. Leon Perry, III, M. DIV., has nurtured his call into God's ministry of service for more than two decades. From his childhood days as a member of Commonwealth Community Church to his current call as Senior Pastor of Chicago's Metropolitan Community Church. To prepare for his call, he attended and graduated from North Park College receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Studies and a Master of Arts Degree in Theological Studies from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Divinity Degree. The ministry of evangelism has allowed him to travel within the local community and throughout the United States conducting revivals, retreats and participating in continuing education programs through the University of Chicago Divinity School. Reverend Perry is affiliated with the International Council of Community Churches where he has served as a Regional Trustee, member of the Social Concerns Commission and as a delegate to the World Council of Churches. He is also a member of the Christian Ecumenical Covenant Fellowship, Bishop T. Garrott Benjamin, Jr. Presiding Prelate. He has taught in the South Suburban School System, served as Chaplain for Glenwood Schools for Boys, NAACP Board Member, Board Member of the Adoption Information Center of Illinois and Chairman of the Metropolitan Community Foundation, Inc. Education Committee. For nine years he served as the Associate Pastor and Junior Church Pastor of Metropolitan Community Church. He was elevated to Senior Pastor in July of 1996. It is his belief that we must be energized by God's spirit, motivated by God's love, guided by God's hand, strengthen by God's power and saved by God's grace. |
