2010 Mission to Ghana & Egypt
On August 2-14-2010, we will return to Africa. We will not only visit Ghana, we will also visit parts of Egypt. The highlight of our trip will be to visit Accra, Ghana and the Neko Tech Center for Sunday Worship Service with a local congregation.

 While there, we will visit the MCC Mission Project, building the HIV/AIDS orphan’s dormitory and participate in the official renaming ceremony.

Prayer Family Hour

The Prayer Ministry will hold the MCC “Family Prayer Hour” every third Wednesday of each month from 6:00pm to 6:55pm.  Each hour will be a “Conversation with God.” God wants to do extraordinary things in and through His people, so join us as we continue to Seek God’s Kingdom in 2010.

Updates to Church Ministries
In 2010, Metropolitan plans to work towards achieving God’s Kingdom Charge guided by Matthew 6:33 (Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you.). In keeping with this scripture, the pastor, the congregation, to include its ministries, will embrace: Spiritual Development, Stewardship, Outreach, Service, and Accountability. Metropolitan Community Church Newsletter
The Metropolitan Community Church Newsletter is now “The Shining Light.” The newsletter highlights church activities and events, it highlights organizations and happenings occurring in the Bronzeville area that may be of interest to our members, our ministries, and our community. The goal is to provide members with resources and opportunities to be become involved in the Bronzeville area and make a positive impact in improving this growing community.  Be sure to view the list of Community Partners who are participating in this effort.  Kudo’s to our Board of Trustees.

YouthQuake Receives the Kingdom Charge
Our children and youth have received the Kingdom charge and are ready to become “Kingdom Seekers.”  In addition to other events, the YouthQuake Shakedowns will continue and will consist of a variety of workshops: bible study, youth meetings, and ‘Keepin’ It Real/Let’s Talk sessions.  Below is a list of the activities/events planned through April 2010:

Dare 2 Share Youth Conference (March 19th – 20th)
Our teens will be traveling again this year to participate in the Dare 2 Share Youth Conference. The conference theme is: “Blaze: Ignite Your Passion for Sharing Jesus.” The conference theme is drawn from Isaiah 8:1-8 and is intended to equip teenagers to encounter God in a powerful way. Dare 2 Share guarantees our teens will have an Isaiah-type experience they will never forget. Registration continues through February 14, 2010.

2010 Board of Trustee Elections
This year, you voted to elect the following people to be members of the Trustee Ministry: Karen Hannsberry, Ray Walker, James Stewart, Gary Brooks, Gloria Stratton,  and Linda Gray.

Holy Week
Holy Week in Christianity is the last week of Lent and the week before Easter. It includes the religious holidays of Palm Sunday. Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday, and lasts from Palm Sunday until but not including Easter Sunday, as Easter Sunday is the first day of the new season of The Great Fifty Days. It commemorates the last week of the earthly life of  Jesus Christ culminating in his crucifixion on Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter SundayHoly week activities were from April 5th to April 12th.

YOUTHQUAKE IS BACK WITH “SATURDAY YOUTHQUAKE!”
Every 4th Saturday of the month, from 9:00am to 3:00pm, will be dedicated to our youth ages 5 – 18.  Every fourth Saturday will consist of a variety of workshops: bible study, youth meetings, and ‘Keepin’ It Real/Let’s Talk sessions. Meetings will be held in the All Purpose Room.  (Breakfast and lunch will be provided.)
