What is the Evangelism Ministry?

“Then Jesus came to them and said, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20

An evangelist is not a specially ordained person. Scripture makes it very clear that all believers have been given this commandment. It is not an option. It is the continuation of the ministry of Jesus Christ through His body, the church. Our goal is to lead unbelievers to Christ and help save lost souls. All of us, who are believers, have been given the gift of salvation. It's a gift that is free to anyone who will believe in Jesus Christ.

Paul says in Romans 10:14-15 that we must take God's great message of salvation to others so they can respond to the Good News. We should witness to others so they can hear and believe. We must share the Good News in the neighborhood, in our families, on the job, and in the streets.

In order to evangelize to others, we must be saved, have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, and a willing heart to serve Him. When you submit to Jesus Christ, you can be guided by the Holy Spirit to speak the Word with boldness. When you submit to Jesus Christ, you can show others how God is working in your life. It is your personal witness that can reach people in all kinds of conditions, generations and stations of life and give them hope for salvation. People are not sinners because they commit sins; they are sinners because they are born with a sinful nature and have been separated from God. As disciples of Christ, we are called to bring all who we can reach under the Lordship of Christ.

God has provided four key resources to help us do this great work. God gives us prayer which keeps our spirit plugged into His will. Scripture provides the authoritative truth. The Holy Spirit empowers us. God uses trials to give us witness.
