Four Essentials to Experience the Peace of God Sustaining
By Kenneth Hill, Sr.

“ Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you, not as the world gives do I give to you.
Let not your heart be troubled, and be not afraid.” John 14:27

Recognize that in order for us to know the peace of God, we must depend on Him. This means we must be willing to let go of our need to control, whether in a specific situation in our life or in our life as a whole.

Pray. Prayer is an essential part of experiencing God's peace. Many of our ancestors talked with God. They told the Lord when they were joyful and when they were fearful. God knows when we struggle with temptation. Crying out to Him in prayer creates an atmosphere of humility in our hearts. It teaches us to trust His guidance and acknowledge that we cannot face the situation on our own. Prayer opens our hearts to the mind of God. We learn to communicate with Him through prayer, and through prayer we hear the inner voice of God speaking to us and guiding us.

Let our faith be simple and pure. Trust God always. Don't complicate or confuse the subject of faith. Jesus instructs us to trust Him with a faith of a child. Stretch your hand out to God, and let Him hold it.

Keep our focus on God. Make it a habit to begin each day in prayer. The bible teaches that Jesus rose early in the morning to commune with His Heavenly Father. Think about Him and, even if your day is rushed, whisper to Him often: “Help me keep my eyes and my heart focused on you, oh Lord.” If we do this, we will not be shaken by the storms of life. Instead we will know the peace of Jesus.

Experience the Peace of God, and share Him with a neighbor.
